Winter wedding at Chak89: Danni & Jeff

I’m really excited to be able to share Danni and Jeff’s wedding day with you. The love between these two is just beautiful. We had such fun when we shot their engagement shoot on the Southbank in London, and that definitely continued through their wedding day. The smiles were wide, and the laughter constant.

Danni started the day at a hotel getting ready with her bridesmaids and mum not too far from St. Bartholomew’s Church. While everyone was getting ready, I took photos of Danni’s beautiful details as well as the build up before leaving. Before we left for Danni’s all important date, we spent some time taking some bridal portraits, which also gave her time with her mum, Mary. So much had happened in the year leading up to this day, with family illness and Danni’s uni studies, I hope you can feel the emotion through the photos as I did while with them.

When we arrived at the ceremony, there were a few anxious moments as London traffic had delayed Danni’s aunt from arriving, but she soon arrived and then it was time to move onto the most important task of the day. Danni and Jeff knew they wanted a modern wedding with a family and culture at the centre. They incorporated their Ghanian heritage with Jeff wearing a Kente scarf throughout the day. In the evening, they also changed into Kente outfits. Kente is a traditional Ghanian cloth which is mainly used by royalty but also at sacred functions. Their reception at Chak89 was elegantly decorated and lit in my all time favourite colour, purple. To me, that’s a good sign for a good party, no?! The wedding party and both sets of parents danced their way into the venue before taking their seats for the speeches, including one from Danni. I do love a bride who makes her own traditions. She didn’t dance before hers like Jeff did, but she did it her way for sure!

Jeff and Danni, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your story. I’m so happy for you both. It was my absolute pleasure and honour to watch and capture your family and friends celebrate your love.
