Why Engagement Shoots Are Important

Yesterday I invited my brother and his girlfriend over for a photo shoot. I wanted to photograph Michael and Emma, mainly because I know them, but also because in the past, I have not offered engagement sessions to my clients, but this is something I offer as standard, and wanted to try out a few poses.

As I live not far from Thames Barrier Park, I thought we would use this as our backdrop. At first, there were some nerves and giggling, I think mainly from me. As Emma and Michael got used to my camera and directions, they began to relax and started to enjoy being models for the day.

With my approach to wedding photography - relaxed, natural and unobtrusive - I want my couples to feel comfortable in front of the camera to truly capture the real emotions of their day.

I believe engagement shoots will help me achieve this as they are not just about me seeing how you, my future couple will react to being in front of the camera, but also for you to see how I work, to give you an insight to what my approach will be on your wedding day. They also allow us all to get to know each, something I think is essential in ensuring your trust in me, to produce the pictures you want and will treasure of the biggest day of your lives.
